Brook & Brian
June 28th—30th, 2024 · Coloma River Resort, California
Please join Brook & Brian from June 28th—30th 2024 at the Coloma River Resort as we celebrate our wedding.
We are getting married and would love to have you join us for a weekend celebration on the beautiful American River in California's gold country this summer. The ceremony and reception will be held in the evening on Saturday the 29th.
Brook’s Story
Brook was a (slightly?) feral child formed in the woods, creeks, and Lakes of Michigan. Was it wanderlust or youthful ignorance that drew her away? Either way the West Coast has offered a new sense of home, first in Washington state and then in beautiful California. Through her exploration of the state she learned to ski and surf, and the later led her to Brian and the family she yearned for.
Brian’s Story
Brian grew up on the east coast as weird kid that no one understood and then felt conspicuously normal when he moved to California 20 years ago. Almost immediately he fell in love with the Pacific Ocean and the wild people and places of California. With the dedication of a true adventurer, he spent the last 20 years taking his daughters Callie and Emily on as many crazy adventures as possible.
Our Story
Brian and Brook met at work sometime in 2013 or '14 but didn’t get to know each other until 6 year ago when a random conversation led to a fun surf session (was it a date?). As they spent more time and shared stories of their lives and experiences they recognized the kindred spirit in one another. Their adventures together have built trust, teamwork and a deep love (plus a bunch more crazy stories).
Our Family Story
When Callie and Emily first met her, they approved at least enough to begin to include Brook on family trips like back-packing in Yellowstone in the first summer. Through the adventures of a global pandemic, the high school years, the camping, climbing, skiing, surfing, and the ups and downs of life, Brook became a part of the family. The love and fun they share continues to make “Team Awesome” even awesomer.
The Wedding Weekend
June 28th-30th, 2024
Relax, Celebrate and Enjoy
It’s been really fun to think through how our dream wedding will look and feel. We quickly confirmed that we are both in opposition to anything too detailed, too fancy, or overly complicated. Plenty of good food, wonderful people, great music and the natural beauty of a wild river seems about the dreamiest thing we can imagine.
Before we joined up as a family we all had rich outdoor adventures built into our lives, and camping trips continue to be a special way to bond with family and friends. We hope that you can join us and help to create a really memorable experience. The weekend will be a mix of family camp out, hanging out by the river, wedding and barn dance.
We also want to acknowledge and celebrate all of you, since your love is part of what makes this day and our lives so special. Hopefully the weekend is evocative of some of the formative experiences that we have shared with you: Big Star Lake, days on the Noyo River, dancing at Bliss Fest, or days on the water at Moriches.
Come ready to relax, have fun, and enjoy the beautiful river with a group of amazing people (consisting of all of you!)
